Mundo Nuevo Chocolate Limited is Trinidad and Tobago’s first contemporary artisan chocolate manufacturer, born out of a desire to continue the cocoa cultivation heritage of the area’s previous Spanish inhabitants. This cocoa estate comprising sixty acres was once owned by a French farmer, Zachariah Michel, who came to the island in 1889 seeking riches in cocoa.
Mundo Nuevo Chocolate Limited was born in 2018 after a few years of trying to understand the magic of turning Trinitario beans into dark chocolate, where the subtle, flavorful notes inherent in the Trinitario bean are retained in each batch.
We’ve set out to craft the most decadent, flavorful chocolate by using the cocoa beans on the estate; what else but the Trinitario bean for which Caribbean island is world-renowned? The Trinitario bean was “created” in the early 1700s through the “magic” of the islands.
To produce chocolate that delivers on quality, taste, and affordable luxury.
We make single-estate artisanal chocolates in small batches and gently process them to maintain the rich, fruity flavors in the beans. Our ultimate goal is to deliver the best hand-crafted chocolates from the island where the Trinitario bean was “developed.”
